Build a bank
people don't dread.

Yusr launched its app in the first quarter of 2025 and passed half a million customers in under eighteen months. The next stretch is harder and more interesting: more products, more scrutiny, and a much lower tolerance for anything held together with tape. That is the work we are hiring for.

Roles are based in Riyadh or at our Cairo service hub. We do not currently hire outside those two locations.

Why Yusr

A small bank with a very short distance between idea and customer

Most banks in the region are decades old and carry decades of systems with them. Yusr was licensed in 2024 and built its ledger, its card platform and its app from an empty repository. That means fewer people between a decision and the thing shipping, and a code base nobody has to apologise for.

It also means the work is real. There is no sandbox product here waiting for a real launch. Half a million people in the Kingdom are paid their salary into a Yusr Current account and buy groceries with a Yusr Card, and they notice within minutes when we get something wrong. Most of our team say that is the part they would not trade.

Written, not shouted

Proposals go in a document before they go in a meeting. Everyone reads it first. Meetings then argue about the substance, not the summary.

Risk is everybody's job

Engineers sit in fraud reviews. Analysts read incident write-ups. Nobody gets to treat controls as somebody else's department.

You meet the customer

Every new joiner spends a day on the support floor in week one, whatever the role. Several people take a shift every quarter after that.

Nobody guesses the numbers

Cost, margin and unit economics are shared with the whole company every month, including the months that look bad.

How we work

Four habits we protect

Not values on a wall. These are the things people here get told off for skipping.

01

Ship in small pieces, on a Tuesday

Releases go out midweek, in daylight, with the people who wrote them at their desks. Nothing important launches on a Thursday afternoon, and nothing launches without a way to turn it off again in one step.

02

Incidents get written up, not buried

Every incident that reached a customer gets a public entry on our status page and an internal write-up within five working days. The write-up names the cause, not the person. We have never disciplined anyone for an honest outage, and we have twice done so for hiding one.

03

Riyadh and Cairo are one team, on one platform

The service hub in New Cairo runs the same servicing platform, the same customer records and the same quality scorecard as the Riyadh floor. Team leaders from both sites join the same Sunday operations call, and coaching standards are identical.

04

Arabic first, English fluent

Customers are served in Arabic and English, and product copy is written in Arabic before it is translated. Internal documents are in English. Both matter, and hiring reflects that.

Benefits

The package, stated plainly

Benefits below apply to permanent Yusr employees in Riyadh. Roles at the New Cairo service hub are employed by our partner Meridian Contact Solutions on locally set terms, matched to the same value where the local market allows. Contract and internship terms are set out in the individual offer.

Medical from day one

Class A cover for you, a spouse and up to four children, effective on your start date rather than after probation. Dental and optical included.

30 days of leave

Thirty calendar days of annual leave plus public holidays, and an annual flight allowance for colleagues recruited from outside the Kingdom.

SAR 9,000 a year to learn

A personal budget for courses, certifications and conferences, with study leave for exams. Most of engineering and risk uses all of it.

Parental leave that means it

Fully paid maternity leave beyond the statutory minimum, ten days of paid paternity leave, and a phased return over the first month back.

Annual bonus, published rules

A single company-wide bonus scheme with the targets shared at the start of the year, and the results shared whether or not they were met.

Support that is actually private

Confidential counselling and financial coaching through an independent provider, plus a gym allowance at both sites.

Hiring

Three weeks, four conversations, no puzzles

We do not ask candidates to reverse a binary tree on a whiteboard or to complete unpaid work that looks suspiciously like our backlog. Every stage is scheduled in advance, and every candidate who reaches a first interview gets written feedback whatever the outcome.

Accommodations are arranged on request at any stage, including format, timing and interview language. Ask the recruiter; it does not affect the assessment.

Stage 1 · 20 minutes

Call with the recruiter

The role, the team, the money, and whether the timing works for both sides. Salary range is given on this call.

Stage 2 · 60 minutes

Craft interview with the hiring manager

A conversation about real work you have done, in detail. Technical roles include a live problem drawn from our own systems, worked through together rather than graded in silence.

Stage 3 · 60 minutes

Two colleagues, one scenario

A cross-team panel walks through a situation the role would actually face — an incident, a customer complaint, a control that failed — and asks how it would be handled.

Stage 4 · 30 minutes

Meet a director, then decide

A short conversation with the function lead, an offer within two working days, and pre-employment checks required of any regulated financial institution before a start date is confirmed.

Engineering

Senior Backend Engineer

Core Banking Riyadh, KSA Full time

Owns services in the core banking ledger — the system that records every balance, posting and settlement at Yusr — written in Java and Kotlin. Day to day means designing and building ledger and payments services, keeping end-of-day processing correct as volumes grow, and holding the line on consistency guarantees that cannot be relaxed for convenience. Expect a strong grounding in distributed systems, relational data modelling and testing money-handling code, plus a share of the on-call rota with the rest of the team.

iOS Engineer

Mobile Riyadh, KSA Full time

Builds the Yusr app on iOS in Swift, alongside three engineers and a designer. The current roadmap covers a rebuilt transactions view, richer Goals automation and full right-to-left polish in Arabic. Accessibility and launch performance are treated as requirements rather than follow-up tickets, and every release ships behind a switch that can be turned off without an App Store submission.

Risk and financial crime

Fraud Analyst

Financial Crime Riyadh, KSA Full time, shift rota

Works the case queue raised by the real-time risk engine. Every card payment, transfer and login is scored as it happens, and cases arrive with the score, the contributing signals and the device history attached. The role covers reviewing those cases and releasing or confirming the automatic hold placed on the highest scoring activity, tuning score thresholds so genuine customers are not stopped at the till, and monitoring model performance week on week — detection rate, false positive rate, and where the two are drifting apart. Findings feed straight back to the data scientists who retrain the models, so the ability to argue a case with numbers matters more than years served.

Data Protection Officer

New
Risk and Compliance Riyadh, KSA Full time

A newly created role, reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, to build Yusr's privacy programme from the ground up. The remit is broad and deliberately senior: setting the policy framework, mapping what the bank holds and why, working with engineering, product and operations as new features are designed, owning the register of suppliers who handle customer information, running the response when a customer asks about their information, and acting as the point of contact for the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority. Requires deep working knowledge of the Personal Data Protection Law and its implementing regulations, credibility with a regulated board, and the appetite to write the first version of almost everything. Suits a senior privacy, audit or compliance professional who wants ownership rather than a seat in an existing function.

AML Compliance Officer

Financial Crime Riyadh, KSA Full time

Runs the anti-money-laundering programme alongside the MLRO: transaction monitoring rules, sanctions and screening quality, suspicious activity reporting, and the annual assessment presented to the board and the regulator. Experience in a SAMA-supervised institution and a working command of the relevant reporting obligations are required.

Growth and marketing

Growth Analyst

Growth Riyadh, KSA Full time

Owns the numbers behind acquisition, from the first advert seen to the first payment made. The role covers channel performance and cost per funded account, the design and measurement of lifecycle campaigns over email, SMS and push, and experiment design that produces a decision rather than a debate. A large part of the brief is the application funnel: building and measuring re-engagement campaigns aimed at people who started an application and did not finish it, and lifting conversion out of the saved-application pool, which is now one of the biggest single sources of new accounts. Strong SQL, a comfortable relationship with a dashboard tool, and enough scepticism to kill a campaign that only looks good.

Customer operations

Customer Care Team Leader

Customer Operations Cairo, Egypt Meridian Contact Solutions Full time, shift rota

Leads a team of around fifteen agents at the Yusr service hub in New Cairo, the dedicated floor run with our outsourcing partner Meridian Contact Solutions, covering chat, phone and email across the shift pattern that keeps support answered 24 hours a day. The team works the live servicing platform used by the Riyadh floor, with the same access to customer accounts, cases and payment history, so the role is as much about judgement and control as it is about queue times. Day to day means running the shift, handling escalations that agents cannot resolve, holding the team to the service standards agreed with Riyadh, and joining the Sunday operations call with the other team leaders. Fluent Arabic and English are essential; previous experience in a regulated financial or telecoms environment is strongly preferred.

Quality Analyst (Voice)

Customer Operations Cairo, Egypt Meridian Contact Solutions Full time

Based at the Yusr service hub in New Cairo, which is operated with our outsourcing partner Meridian Contact Solutions, and sits at the centre of how service quality is measured across both sites. The role covers listening back to recorded customer calls, scoring them against the Yusr quality framework, and turning what the recordings show into coaching that changes the next call — clarity of the explanation, accuracy of the information given, tone when a customer is upset about money, and whether the right steps were taken before an account was discussed. Sampling runs across the Cairo and Riyadh floors against a single scorecard, with calibration sessions held fortnightly so scores mean the same thing in both places. Results are shared with team leaders weekly and feed the induction material for new agents.

Where you would work

Two sites, one standard of service

Head office

King Fahd Road, Al Olaya

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Engineering, product, design, risk, finance and growth sit on two floors with the onboarding team. The support floor is on the same level as engineering, deliberately, so a spike in complaints is something you can hear. Parking, prayer rooms and a canteen that does a genuinely good breakfast.

Nearest metro: KAFD station, seven minutes on foot.

Service hub

New Cairo service hub

Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt

A dedicated Yusr floor at the New Cairo site of our outsourcing partner Meridian Contact Solutions, running round-the-clock chat, phone and email support alongside the Riyadh team. Around 120 agents today, growing past 200 through 2026, with team leader and quality roles opening as the floor expands. New joiners complete the same six-week induction as staff in Riyadh.

Hub roles are recruited and employed by Meridian on the Yusr account. Shifts cover every hour of the week, including Saudi public holidays.

Questions

Before you apply

For senior engineering, risk and compliance roles in Riyadh, yes. Yusr sponsors the work permit and covers relocation for the employee and immediate family, including flights, thirty days of temporary accommodation and school assistance where relevant. Roles at the New Cairo service hub are hired locally by our partner Meridian Contact Solutions and are not relocation eligible.

No. Yusr runs a four-day office week at both sites, with one flexible day. Customer operations roles are on site full time because of the systems and the shift cover involved. We would rather be honest about that than advertise a flexibility we do not have.

For most roles, no — about four in ten of our staff came from outside financial services. Compliance and financial crime roles are the exception, because the regulator expects specific experience in the people holding them. Everything else we will teach, and the six-week induction assumes you are starting from scratch.

The pre-employment checks required of a licensed bank: identity and right to work, education and previous employment, and background screening appropriate to the role. Nothing is started without your agreement, and the recruiter explains exactly what will be checked before the offer stage.

Yes, and people do — several colleagues joined on a second attempt. There is no waiting period. If you were given written feedback the first time, mention in your note what has changed since.

The 2026 graduate intake for engineering and risk closed in April. A new cohort opens in January 2027, with places in Riyadh across engineering, data and financial crime. Send a speculative application through the form above and we will get in touch when it opens.
